Based in Spain but born in Belgium, I’ve been travelling the world over the last decade on the look for the best cocktails and spirits. I’m the author of four books — some of them award-nominated. I write in three languages and my work has appeared in publications such as Class, Tapas, Imbibe, Punch, Whisky Fine Spirits Magazine, Beber, Fine, The Cocktail Lovers or El Mundo. In 2019, 2021 and 2022 I was named in Drinks International’s Bar World 100, as one of the 100 most influential persons in the global bar industry. As of 2020, I’m the World’s 50 Best Bars Academy Chair for Spain and Portugal. I’m also one of the Writing & Media co-chairs for the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards.
Over the years, I’ve developed a reputation as an aromatized wine expert (I wrote a book on the subject) and cocktail historian (ditto). I’ve led countless tastings, seminars or masterclasses for public and private institutions, including leading spirit and cocktail events such as Tales of the Cocktail, Bar Convent Berlin, Lisbon Bar Show or FIBAR, among others. I’ve also judged numerous competitions.
As a consultant, I’ve helped brands putting together education programs or creating editorial content and I’ve dabbled in product development. And when bar owners feel they need some help with their low ABV cocktail programs or aromatized wine selection, I’ve been known to lend a hand.
